6 Month Stats

At Camryn's six month check up on Monday she:

Weighed in at 11lbs 2 oz,

Stretched out to 24 in long,

and her head was 43.5 cm around!

Her length is now in the 5%, her head in the 80%, but her weight is still way off the curve. However, she is making her own curve with her weight, so the doctor is not concerned.

6 Months Old

Happy (belated) Holidays from the Arlens!

This update is very overdue! I do apologize. I have been a busy mama over the holidays between keeping the house together and working. However, we have not been too busy to take pictures! We have taken 145 pictures over the past two months, mostly of Camryn. I have downloaded them today and will post the cutest ones for your viewing pleasure.

I can hardly believe that its been six months since my weeks of bed rest ended and I became a mama. At this time on July 29, I was in the process of inducing labor and changing over from being in my overnight room at the hospital in to the labor room. I'll spare you all the details, but about 7 hours later I gave birth to my little peanut and found out we'd had a GIRL!

And as everyone promised me, motherhood has proven to be the most joyous and hardest job I've ever had to do. I love every minute and thank God for my beautiful girl everyday!

Ok, enough of the mushy mama talk, and on to the stats and milestones. She is gaining weight steadily, and is around 11 pounds. So, she's gained about 6 pounds in 6 months. Her length is about 25 inches, which is an increase of about 7 inches since birth. She has her 6 month check-up on Monday. I'll post her official stats after that appointment.

Camryn may be tiny, but she is very active. She now loves tummy time, especially when Brady is playing on the floor in front of her too! She has also taken to laughing out loud, mostly when the dog is going nuts and barking, and has the cutest little voice to match her little body. She likes to be where ever the action is and know what is going on, but she is starting to play on her own as well. She now loves her swing and jumper, which helps us get a few things done. Camryn grabs everything within her reach, including Mommy & Daddy's food, hair, pens, paper, etc. She will be TROUBLE when she starts crawling!

Her favorite thing to do now is go shopping! Generally, it's grocery shopping, and she just talks away in the baby carrier while I walk through the store. Camryn loves when people in the store smile at her and tell her how cute she is: she starts giggling and kicking her legs. Cami also loves riding in the car. This past week she has babbled herself to sleep within 10 minutes of starting any trip.

The funniest thing she has done is discovering that she can suck on her toes while she gets her diaper changed. Yes, I did capture this on the video camera finally, however I don't think I can post it from my super slow computer.

As far as sleep goes, she is not yet sleeping through the night, but Mommy & Daddy are having some more restful nights. Two nights she has even slept in her crib all night, still waking up to eat once or twice.

I am proud to say that we are still breastfeeding! We have started introducing solid foods once a day. She loves the rice cereal mixed with breast milk. This week we introduced her to her first fruit, bananas, with a mixed reaction. We are going slowly with the solid foods so that she will still be getting her primary nutrition from the breast milk to help her catch up on growth.

I think the next milestone we will be crossing is teeth... stay tuned for those woes!

Four Month Check-Up

Camryn had her four month check-up on Tuesday and everything came back great. She had blood work done to follow her liver functions, which had been elevated the past couple of months, but are now almost in the normal range. The doctor was happy with her growth, and said she's meeting all the developmental milestones.

Here are her stats:
Weight: 9 pounds, still small but gaining appropriately
Length: 22 inches, right on for her weight
Head: 42 centimeters, which is the 75% for her age!

My girl has such a big brain! It is helping her reach those milestones I talked about. Even with her big head she can hold it up for a very long time and she can sit up with back support now. She also stands with someone supporting her back, and loves to kick her legs and "dance". The smiles are non-stop and are now accompanied by squeals and giggles. She "talks" all the time to anyone that will listen. Lately, she has really started to vocalize and likes to hear herself scream as loud as she can; to the point where she is ear-piercingly loud.

We are not sleeping through the night just yet, but it is certainly better than the first few weeks. I know in time that will come along too.
